After the Castaways expedition, I stayed at Outpost, and leaving was hard. The hostel has a beautiful sunset view, and you can rent a scooter or find loads of tuktuks right outside. The dorms and bathrooms were super clean. They also have social events every night and tours available daily. On my last day my friend was really sick with gastro, and the hostel was full. The staff called our next hostel to arrange an early check-in, then called a tuktuk guy to carry my friend’s backpack up to the main road. Everyone was so kind, from reception to the bar and everywhere else. I’m really grateful for all their help. Thank you so much!

Outpost Hostel felt like home, and I loved every minute there. The whole crew was so friendly, welcoming, and easy to talk to. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed somewhere with a team this warm, social, and fun. Honestly, I just want to stay.

The sea view from this hostel is amazing, and the 40-minute walk into the centre of El Nido was very doable. The facilities were good, and the day tours were really nice to book through them. If you’re into partying, this is the place for you. The bunk beds could be better designed. The steps up to the top bunks are annoying, and the storage for your things is dark and under the bed. My main reason for not giving five stars is that there’s no Wi-Fi or phone service in the rooms. You have to go to the common area, where the music is so loud you can’t even make a phone call.

The social atmosphere at Outpost Hostel makes it easy to meet other travelers, and the general vibe was great. The staff greeted us warmly and explained things clearly at check-in. We had a four-bed female ensuite room. The air conditioning blasted the first night, but they kindly adjusted it when we asked the next day. Just be aware that the showers only have cold water. We booked Tour A through the hostel, advertised at 1,500 pesos, but added fees brought it to around 2,000. I wish the full price and the non-refundable policy had been explained before we booked. After eating and drinking at the hostel that night, I got severe food poisoning and was sick for about 48 hours, so I couldn’t go. My friends asked whether I could get a full or partial refund. We were told management would be asked, but nobody ever followed up. The refund wasn’t approved, which I understand from a policy point of view, but clearer communication would have helped a lot. There are plenty of chances to meet people here, and the energy is great. Being upfront about tour costs and policies would make the experience better.

The sunsets here are the best, and this hostel is the best! The nightly parties and events make every evening feel special. Levi, Mayang, EJ, Cristel, Jyrie, Edna, Jasmine and Val are the heart of the place, and the housekeeping queens Jelina, Mona, and Arnelin deserve extra love for all the care they put into every corner. It’s a whole experience, where strangers turn into your people and one night out becomes a story you keep long after you leave. I’m already missing it. ✨
