Soffta Surf Ranch

The location is perfect, the bathrooms were clean, and the hammock and terrace were really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, and renting a scooter directly from them was easy. The main problem was the room, which had an unpleasant acidic smell and poor soundproofing. We could hear the neighbors next door talking and people upstairs walking. It’s a good base, but there’s room for improvement.

The hammock area was my favorite bit, and there was always someone around to chat or spend time with. I stayed over New Year’s, when they put on a lovely gathering with food from different countries, good music, and a great atmosphere. Soffta is calm and laid-back. I’d happily recommend it and come back.

I planned to stay five nights and somehow ended up at Soffta for 25. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean, and when something needed attention, the team made an effort to sort it out. Its spot in General Luna is convenient, and you can rent scooters right at the hostel. What kept me there was the people. The kitchen and common area made it easy to meet others, though nobody made you feel you had to socialize. The staff were warm and involved: they’d share places to go, invite you along, and arrange little events, parties, and meals. The line “Whatever is on the table, is for everyone” really sums up the feeling there. I shared so many meals and experiences with people I met. Siargao gave me some of my favorite memories, and this place was a big part of that. Thanks to Jens and the whole Soffta family for making me feel so welcome and making it so easy to keep extending my stay. I had the time of my life and would absolutely come back.

It’s right by the main road, but tucked among lovely plants and flowers, so it stayed quiet. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean throughout. When one shower lock had an issue, they fixed it straight away.
