Casa Bocobo Hotel

The lobby felt cozy and smelled fresh when I walked in. My Standard King Room was comfortable enough and had a dedicated table where I could work. There’s no elevator, which could be a real issue for guests with mobility needs, but staff promptly helped carry my heavy bags when I arrived and left. The main frustration was check-in. The stated time was 2:00 PM, and although I arrived between 2:00 and 2:15, I didn’t get a room until 3:00 because none were ready. The staff apologized, but waiting an extra hour with a heavy backpack was frustrating, and the apology didn’t feel like enough. The next morning, around 10:00 AM, I got a call reminding me that the 12:00 PM checkout was strict. Some flexibility would have felt fair given the late room. The TV had no cable signal, so I couldn’t use it. I also asked reception about a massage and got a flyer with a therapist’s number. They weren’t available when I called from my room. The receptionist offered to find someone else, but an hour later texted that the other therapist wasn’t available either. It was already around 9-10 PM, and I was hesitant to go out, so I’d hoped they could find a reliable nearby option or have a better way to arrange the service. I’d recommend it if you want a simple, homey stay and don’t care much about amenities. The atmosphere is lovely, and the staff are helpful with bags. I wouldn’t personally return, though. The late check-in, failed attempt to find a massage therapist, and broken TV made the service feel unreliable, especially with no meaningful compensation or flexibility for the delay.

Our stay fell during peak season, and at first it looked like the booking might be cancelled. We couldn’t find another hotel, so we asked them to try to fit us in, and they did. The room was fine, staff were polite and kind, and they took care of all my requests easily. That’s why I’m giving them 5 stars.

The price is fair, the staff and service are good, and the location is central enough. Still, the inside feels old, especially the bathroom, and the water pressure seems low. The walls are thin too, so you can hear people showering upstairs. I’d give the place another chance, maybe after the reconstruction, and would recommend it for solo travelers.

Be careful. I booked through Booking.com, then soon after got a payment request from the hotel’s account asking for my card details. I told the hotel on WhatsApp that it looked like a phishing attempt. They saw my message but didn’t reply. They’re the ones sending the requests. Scam.
