Hotel Juliano By Zuzu

The hotel worked well for our family of seven adults and an infant. We booked three rooms: one for three people, one for four, and one for a solo guest. It was handy for my father’s visa appointment at the US Embassy, and I waited at Dolomite beach while he was there. Rizal Park, the National Museum of Fine Arts, and Manila Ocean Park are nearby too. There’s a 7-11 on the street. I did notice homeless people sleeping in the park across from Ermita church, which was a sad sight. The rooms had towels, tissues, TVs, and air conditioning. After checkout in the morning, they let us leave our luggage at the front and collect it in the afternoon before going to the airport. I’d stay here again when I’m back in Manila.

I was here for three days and will definitely come back. As a solo traveler, I just needed an affordable, convenient place for my visa interview and didn’t care much about the room or the view. Hotel Juliano fit that well. The beds were really comfortable, and I appreciated having both a built-in heater for warm showers and a bidet.

I booked this because it was the best price I found nearby for a private bathroom. Other places around here seemed to have shared bathrooms and cost almost twice as much. At 1175peso p.n on agoda, the value is why I’m giving it five stars, though the room is small and basic, and there’s no elevator. You get a TV, hot water, and air conditioning, which is a bit noisy. The little road it’s on made me unsure about safety at first, but after two days I had no problems. I walked around in the early hours and felt safe enough. There were a few people sleeping in the park, but nobody bothered me. Cowboy Grill is close by, with live music daily from 6 or 7pm.

Good spot for a solo traveler needing somewhere temporary for a visa interview. I asked for a quiet room so I could work, but the AC was too loud and the wifi too slow for my WFH job. I’d been counting on being able to do my work from there.
