I usually don’t leave reviews, but I want to warn people about how the owner handled my money. I stayed here for nine days, Dec. 27 to Jan. 5, 2020. The owner herself told me by phone that the hotel was under new management, and she also seemed to be the manager, since she was the only person called when problems came up. After those nine days, I asked if I could leave two suitcases at the hotel until the following Monday. I was told that was fine and there’d be no charge. On Monday night I called to say I was coming for the bags, then called again to let them know I was on my way. That’s when I was told the owner had decided I owed a 1000-peso storage fee. I explained I’d been told the bags could stay for free. I assumed my nine-night stay had helped them, since they’d just reopened under new management and might have needed bookings after remodeling, but that didn’t change anything. The owner stuck to the charge, no matter how many times I called. Maybe they hadn’t rented enough rooms that week and saw a chance to bring in a little more money. I don’t mind paying a fee when that’s what we agreed to. But we’d agreed there’d be no charge. If they’d called to say I needed to collect the bags or pay a fee, I could have accepted that. Instead, I was simply told the owner had assessed a storage fee, with no warning. They also said that if I didn’t pay and collect the bags, they’d take them to the police station and turn them over. The owner knew I was on my way to the airport to return to the US, with no cash or card to handle the demand, but still wouldn’t change the decision. I warned her I’d leave a Google review about her poor business ethics, but it made no difference. I had to pay, and nearly missed my flight. I got to the airport and received my ticket at 12:41 pm for a 12:50 pm flight. Buyer beware.
