After waiting almost two hours for an update from the front desk, we ended up checking out in the middle of the night. I had asked calmly if we could move to a clean room, and was willing to pay extra so we could rest and work, but nobody got back to us. I also had several missed calls while reception staff were on their phones, which made it feel as if our concern wasn’t being taken seriously. We’d booked Diamond Hotel Subic during our trip to get some rest, paying ₱4,900 for a better room for a couple. What we found was a dirty room with a strong unpleasant smell. The floor was filthy, the coffee cups were dusty, the balcony door felt unstable, and some lamps were worn or damaged. There was no telephone, and advertised items like a bar fridge and welcome drinks weren’t there unless requested. Even then, the room’s condition made it unusable. I’ve escalated the issue through Agoda. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy, just a decent, clean place to stay. The value for money was completely unjustified, the listing feels misleading, and the hotel shouldn’t accept guests if it can’t meet basic service expectations.

Breakfast took an hour to arrive, and there’s nowhere proper to eat it. Room service comes to a room with only a one-person office desk, no dining table for two, and nowhere to put the used plates. To request breakfast, you have to go downstairs or call from your own phone because there’s no room telephone. I also asked for a fridge and ice, but neither ever came. The room itself had more problems. The sink is in the shower, the shower floor and walls were covered in gunk, and the toilet area flooded. I had to call several times before anyone came to clean it and fix the flooding. The elevator made scary sounds as it moved or went down, and the Wi-Fi didn’t reach our room. Employees sat in the lobby on their phones when they had nothing to do. There was no refrigerator in the room either. Terrible hotel, the worst hotel ever. Subic should not renew its license to operate.

I emailed management about this and never got a response. Around or before 3 a.m. on November 2, 2025, my friends and I came from Skybar, which is inside the Diamond Hotel Subic Bay building. The lobby was empty, and we were only waiting a few minutes to book a ride home. The on-duty security guard, Bermond S., told us we had to leave, saying staying there was forbidden and that his boss had directed him to make us go. I understand there may be rules, but we were customers of Skybar, which rents space in the hotel, and only needed a short wait. I said we’d leave as soon as our ride arrived. Instead of explaining things politely, he was rude and aggressive, insisted we leave immediately, and challenged us to take the issue to management. When I said I would email the hotel, he threatened to video me. I found that offensive and unprofessional. I reminded him that recording someone without consent is illegal, and he replied that I had threatened him by saying I’d email management. That clearly wasn’t what happened. The whole exchange lacked respect, courtesy, and clear communication. I’d understand being asked to move if the lobby were crowded or other guests needed the space, but it was empty. Security staff represent the establishment and should handle situations professionally. I hope management takes this seriously, trains staff in respectful guest relations, and reminds them of the legal implications of unauthorized video recording. Hospitality should include kindness toward people visiting businesses inside the building, as well as hotel guests.

The room smelled of chemicals or insecticide, and the bed creaked whenever I moved. It was hard to sleep with a live band audible at night, either from Pier 1 next door or Skybar downstairs. The place is run down, with peeling floors, a fridge that doesn’t get cold, and a TV that barely works.

The first room didn’t have any usable sockets, and the staff weren’t friendly. We found the room dirty when we arrived, with a used bar of soap left by the previous guest. For the price, the quality wasn’t worth it at all. My stay was really terrible, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
