Alumbung Cottages

The woman managing the place was very nice and tried to help by giving us some fresh water from the gallon to brush our teeth and freshen up. We stayed four nights. The room was okay, though a bit too hot even with the air conditioner. Tap water was salty, making showering and brushing our teeth unpleasant. The swimming pool was a little dirty, so we didn't use it. It's a long walk from everything, but if you usually have a bike, that's fine.

The facilities, staff, and cleanliness were top notch, and the service was very good. Everything was clean and well cared for, and the owner was really helpful with scooters and other services. Breakfast was good, though I'm not a fan of sweet Filipino sausage. I'd recommend staying here, but keep the location in mind and consider getting a scooter to get around, since it's a little far from the main spots. There were a few downsides. Laundry wasn't reliable: our clothes came back not properly cleaned and stained with some white stuff. Better to do laundry near Alona Beach. It can also get loud because landing planes pass over the resort. The area has lots of local private homes where people burn plastic, sometimes all day, and the smell in the air can get tiring.

The staff are really helpful and friendly, and the room was quite big and very clean. There's a small shop across the road, with some restaurants within walking distance. You can rent a scooter, so getting around is easy, and Alona Beach is only a five-minute ride away.

Danao felt more relaxed than Alona, so I'd choose to stay there again. Alumbung is a lovely little piece of paradise, built with love, and you really feel at home. We booked three nights and ended up staying one more. It's a wonderful, peaceful place at Danao Beach to relax and begin a holiday in the Philippines. The staff are so nice and helpful, and breakfast with good coffee is served on your own veranda. There's also a lovely resort on the beach where you can have a candlelit dinner right by the water and watch the beautiful sunset. Alona Beach is a ten-minute motorcycle ride away, costing just PHP 20 per person. Highly recommend Alumbung. We'll definitely come back.
