Punta Del Sol Beach Resort

It’s quiet and secluded, which might feel exclusive to some people, but my stay was very disappointing. Flying termites were everywhere and impossible to escape, even when we ran around the resort. It looked like the place hadn’t been maintained, and the wood seemed rotten. The cottages and furniture were dirty, and the restaurant and store were both expensive and left unattended. The beach is small and rocky, and the water farther out seems unsafe for children and older people. Stick to the small beach area, and don’t swim where there are no stairs or ramps. I could understand this happening in the off-season, but it’s already summer and other resorts are full. This place needs a lot of maintenance.

The water from the Samal sea is lovely, though the shore could use some upkeep. There was a lot of garbage in the water, and the grassy, stony area calls for careful footing and slippers. I liked the greenery around the resort and found the staff friendly and accommodating. Getting there is easy since it’s close to the road, with only a short stretch of rough road to travel. The rooms were clean and okay, though nothing special; the restroom needs some renovation, while I really liked the furniture. I’d bring my own food, since what my family ate was a bit salty and the portions didn’t seem worth the price.

I liked the quiet setting and fresh sea breeze, and enjoyed walking around this simple, remote place. They have cottages for solo visitors as well as company gatherings. But when we arrived, our booked room wasn’t available because the previous guest had extended their stay. They offered us another room for an extra charge. I pointed out that ours had been booked and paid for ahead of time and asked the receptionist to contact the manager. After nearly 30 minutes, they gave us a room at no extra cost.

The villa water pressure is really poor, especially since they put a lot of guests in one area served by a tank that isn’t very large. They already know about the pressure issue, so I hope they’ll address it. The location is lovely and the water is clear, but the shoreline needs cleaning. There were plastics, shirts, and lots of sea urchins. I couldn’t tell whether the staff were slow or there just weren’t enough of them. The room’s A/C worked well, and the food was good, though I wish the portions were bigger.
