The WiFi worked really well, unlike at many other places, and breakfast was included. I believe they only make Philippine breakfast, though I’m not completely sure, since communication wasn’t always easy. We stayed one night and went straight on to Port Barton. There wasn’t much to do in Puerto Princesa. Our first room was tiny, with a broken shower and a dirty bathroom, including hair over the sink. The staff helped move us to a bigger room, but that one was dirty too. The air conditioners were listed as available, but they were so old they didn’t work. We sweated through the whole night and were nearly ready to find somewhere else, but we were too tired. The place is secluded, though not far from the main street, and there’s a pond behind it with lots of mosquitoes and bugs. Between the heat and the cleanliness, it wasn’t a good stay for me.

The place was clean and well kept, and even though they were short-staffed, the staff were helpful, gracious, and warm. It was in its soft launch, so some amenities weren’t complete yet. The owner said things should improve in the weeks ahead. It’s not beachfront, but it’s convenient to the highway, Robinson’s Mall, Ka Inato, and souvenir shops. There’s wide parking, and the property can accommodate 70 guests. I can’t wait to return to Puerto Princesa and stay at Gilin Suites once it’s fully operational. It should be an awesome stay, just like always.

The place needs better upkeep. My throw pillow was dirty, the wooden closets need fixing, and there was no TV programming or Wi-Fi. Water was dripping from the ceiling. At least the staff were friendly.

They shut the hotel at 11 PM, which made me wonder if I was staying in a hotel or a prison. I also kept being asked for more money, with the price going up. I paid 1,300 pesos for one night, then at checkout the next day they demanded an extra amount, calling it an exit price and adding charges for this and that. It felt like being robbed. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The rooms were clean and looked after, and there's an in-house cook if you'd like to eat at the inn. Getting to malls, souvenir shops, and restaurants takes a ride. The water pressure was weak, though manageable. They were really accommodating even though we booked at the last minute, and offered airport pickup for a fee, which would've made handling our luggage easier.
