Rivermount Hotel and Resort

The hotel feels modern and new, with nice design and polite staff, but the service needs more polish. I came from North Carolina, USA after staff promised a rental car. When we got there, the options were a driver for a five-hour trip, ten hours total, or a 10-passenger van for just my wife and me. I was also told several times that arranging banquet space would be easy, but nobody called back with details, so I made other plans. The place has potential, though staff could be better informed and should follow through on promises.

The river view is beautiful, and the staff were excellent at taking care of what I needed. Still, a few things kept this from being five stars for me. The rooms were so dark that even with every light on, I had trouble seeing. There was no WiFi in the rooms, which felt outdated in 2019. And sometimes the rice or eggs at breakfast came out cold. I wish all parts of the meal were served hot and fresh.

The pool felt far too small for a hotel of this size, and the WiFi was nearly nonexistent or didn't work. Room service also left us very dissatisfied because the staff didn't replace our used bath and face towels. Breakfast was mediocre, and even with so many people there, it wasn't served as a buffet. There's plenty that could be improved.

There isn't much else to do at the hotel, but the landscape view is great, and it seems well suited to conventions and other gatherings. It's a little far from the city proper, though tricycles were available almost any time of day. We arrived around 11 PM and could still find one to take us there.
