Bearland Paradise Resort

The place is beautiful and peaceful, with a lovely view and a great swimming pool. The food is middling, though, and the service is slow. Bugs were in the pool, and once it got dark there were lots of mosquitoes. Getting there is a hassle since you have to go inside the munisipyo first. There's room for improvement.

The beach access, big pool, slide, open space, and location give this place real potential. But it looks nearly abandoned, with broken things everywhere and what seems like a long time without maintenance. The pool water looked like toilet water, so if you swim, take a thorough shower with soap afterward if you don't want to get sick. Don't trust the photos, the place may have looked that way a long time ago. The toilet had a soap dispenser that didn't work, so it never needed refilling, I guess. Employees barely smiled and did the minimum. I don't blame them, since there's little to be proud of here. The owner needs to invest in upkeep if they want the place to be great again, though it doesn't look like there's much will to do that. Big deception. Avoid.

I've traveled around the world for 20 years and never stayed at a resort this dysfunctional or disorganized. The house was falling apart, with broken windows, cabinets, and AC, plus dangerous electrical plugs that could cause a fire. They also asked for a large deposit, saying they could charge more than double the normal electricity price and add it to the bill. Nothing seemed maintained, including the dirty pool. A family member was hospitalized for 3 days after swallowing pool water, and I'm looking into filing a lawsuit. When I asked for the garbage to be picked up for 4 days, the requests were ignored and met with a rude attitude. It was attracting local wildlife and rats, so I left the garbage in front of the gate. By far the worst resort I've ever experienced.

We booked two weeks before check-in at a 15k rate for 4 rooms, but when we arrived they said the place wasn't ready because the previous guest was still there. We waited 2 hours and 30 mins, and it was already 4pm with no sign of getting in. Our family had seniors with us, and everyone was tired and disappointed, so we asked for a refund. The staff were disorganized and the service was really bad. The General Manager just laughed as if nothing was happening. We're from Cebu and were angry and disappointed after traveling 30 to 40 mins from the city. I won't return or recommend this resort to friends.
