Filip Hostel

We stayed for one night in December 2019, a couple aged 30, and the hostel was better than we expected. The place was quiet, and I slept like a baby because the beds were so comfortable. Our double room and bathroom were tiny, but tidy and warm 🤗. The location worked well too: the main station and a supermarket in a city mall were within a 10-minute walk, and the old town was 15 minutes away.

The staff were good, though the hours are quite restricted: check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is at 11:00. We found the keys a little tricky to use. I'd say it's suitable for a stay of 1 or 2 days.

Getting there by car was easy, and there's dedicated parking out front. The place was tidy and clean, with facilities in good condition; my room had its own toilet and shower. There was no air conditioning, so it got very stuffy in summer. The Wi-Fi connection was basically nominal and not even suitable for sending emails.

We came to Gdansk with high hopes, but the unexpected weather was almost disastrous, and the motel added to the trouble. Our bungalow was cold even in July, around 15 C degree, and being in a car park made us feel unsafe. It was old-fashioned, dirty and not useful. The room was too small, and after an hour or two there wasn't enough fresh air. The bed was awful, with the springs easy to feel. Opening the window didn't seem like a good choice because of safety. The owner didn't speak English and wasn't welcoming to foreigners. We'd stayed in lots of hostels during our vacation, and this was the worst one.
