ibis Krakow Stare Miasto

The room was comfortable, spotless, and tidy, and the housekeeping staff were lovely, greeting us in the hallways. The hotel is also well placed beside Krakow’s central station and near the historic center. The dining area could have been more accommodating, though. I didn't have time to eat breakfast there and wanted to take a small baguette with me, so I asked if they could warm it in the microwave. They refused. I've stayed at several Accor hotels in different countries over many years, and this was the first time this had happened. It was also the first hotel in the chain where I hadn't been able to use a microwave.

For an early, late, or frequent train schedule, this is a really convenient place to stay. The station is less than a 5 minute walk away, and the walk to the old town market square is an easy, flat 20 minutes. We paid $95USD for a non-refundable king room during our Christmas market train trip. This is a 3-star hotel mixed in with the 2-star Ibis Budget, so check which one you're booking. Our room was clean, basic, and practical, with a kettle and coffee grounds. There was also a hot and cold filtered water machine in the hallway. It was quiet, the shower was hot, and we had no problems. The front desk staff were cordial and helpful, though not especially friendly. They had a few nice holiday decorations too.

Breakfast was the same every day and really needs improving. Cold boiled eggs get old, and nobody wants hot dogs for breakfast. I had the room nearest the station and could hear everything going on. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable, the room was cleaned daily, and the showers were good. Having the sink in the room wasn't a great idea.

The beds were comfortable, and there was good lighting in both the room and bathroom. The facilities were in good shape and had everything we might need, though slippers would have been a nice extra. Check-in went smoothly, and the hotel is well located near the train and bus stations and the Old Town. My kid had fun in the kids corner. Breakfast was great, with a good range of food and treats.
