The Caribbean queen was simple but lovely and comfortable, with a little balcony where we could see the ocean. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was delicious. Every morning we watched hummingbirds visiting the flowers. I’m already trying to plan a return trip next year. One thing to know: people coming for breakfast can be heard near our room. I was already up by 8am, so it didn’t bother me. The bed felt a bit hard at first, but I got used to it.

This place was just what we wanted and didn’t disappoint. It’s peaceful, yet close to town and lots of beaches. The rooms were roomy and well equipped, and renting umbrellas and snorkel gear was a nice option. We also used the honor bar and had cocktails on the balcony before dinner each night. I’d gladly recommend it.

We had a comfortable, clean room with a good-sized bed, and a lovely ocean view. Semi-wild horses came by in the morning, and at night we watched the rather large bats from the well-kept pool. Breakfast was wonderful. There aren’t meals offered through the day, but there’s a spot to buy drinks and snacks on the honor system. The location worked well, not too far from beaches and roadside bars serving decent food. If I return, I’d book here again without hesitation.

The staff were helpful and very accommodating, and the breakfast included with the stay was just what we needed each morning. From our bed, we could see the ocean. The atmosphere at Hacienda Tamarindo was pristine, and the views were breathtaking. We had a beautiful stay and will definitely come back.

I was traveling alone and felt completely safe here. Hacienda Tamarindo hit a nice middle ground, neither too fancy nor too sketchy. The staff were relaxed, kind, and genuinely helpful. They arranged a rental car for me, clean and brand new, and transfers to and from the airport. My whole experience with Maritza’s was painless. Book your car early and, if possible, get four-wheel drive. Even a small Kia is better than an ATV or golf cart unless you’re staying only in town. Exploring the island is part of the magic. The bag lunch is brilliant, like the best school lunch your mom ever packed, with fresh fruit and a really jammy sandwich. Order it the night before, put it with drinks in your backpack beach-chair cooler, and head out. You don’t have to try every beach. They’re all lovely, with sand, waves, water, and beauty everywhere. Tell your hosts what you care about, then listen to their advice. Some people want food and restrooms nearby; others want to see as few signs of people as possible. Some are after waves, while others want calm snorkeling water. Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. Everything you need for a lovely stay has been considered, and you can figure out the rest of your own island joy. Vieques is about being present, not being productive. Slow down. I hope to return. If you’re there in December, watch the sunset from the upper balcony. When the sun drops on that side of the island, it’s special.
