We only managed two nights, but we're already thinking about returning. The house is a welcoming place to spend calm, relaxing days with the family. It's in the peaceful countryside, with plenty of room for children to run and play while the adults unwind, yet still relatively close to the coast and beaches. The trees and animals make it a learning experience for the kids, too.

A real home away from home, with a wonderful welcome and an amazingly clean place. The surrounding area was lovely too. It's the best place I've had the chance to stay so far.

The kids already can't wait to go back. We missed the chance to book for 2026, so we've reserved for 2027 instead. For us, this is an easy 5 out of 5, and we'd especially recommend it to families. We spent 18 nights at Casal das Fontainhas in August 2025 with our two children and felt right at home. The large, green property is a little paradise for them, with a slide, swings, climbing frames, trampoline, hammock, pool and animals. Djago is there too, of course. Indoors, a separate room full of toys kept boredom at bay. The bedrooms are spacious, the bathroom and toilet lovely, and the kitchen opens onto the living room. Pedro and Sandra were friendly, helpful hosts. The quiet setting was restful, while lovely places were still easy to reach by car. The Atlantic coast is just under 30 minutes away, and we especially recommend Praia de São Martinho do Porto. Alcobaça is also nearby, with the Alcobaça Monastery about a 12-minute drive away. The one thing we personally missed was a small mini-oven. It was easy enough to manage without on holiday and didn't spoil our stay.
