Dinner at the hotel restaurant was delicious, and the gardens are beautiful. I loved staying at this resort. The staff were incredible and happy to help with every request. Breakfast was included and a full 10/10! 🌞

The 40m outdoor pool is beautiful, but nearly everything else about the stay felt disappointing. The rooms were small and poorly insulated, so we could hear the wind and other guests. There were moldy spots in the spa, breakfast had limited uninspired choices, and yoga cost €30 per class at a hotel marketed around wellness. After splitting my first Comporta trip between this place and Sublime, I wish I’d skipped Quinta da Comporta altogether. I’ve travelled widely and stayed at many genuine 5-star properties, and this one didn’t feel worth the price. The hotel’s response when I needed to change my stay because of a family situation back home made things worse. They showed no flexibility or goodwill: no voucher, partial credit, or other accommodation. Their only suggestion was to reopen the room and see whether someone else booked it. That felt dismissive for a property claiming to be 5-star. Other places on the same trip helped me, even with nonrefundable bookings. Sublime felt genuinely premium, with lovely grounds, thoughtful details, a fantastic team, and excellent food. The hospitality there was on a completely different level. I’d skip Quinta da Comporta.

The pool, gym, interiors, and food were all good, but they didn’t make up for the cold hospitality, prices that didn’t feel justified, and the smell in our suite. After three nights, we left wishing we hadn’t booked. We’ve stayed at dozens of wellness properties around the world, and this was the first time we felt that way. We had a suite in the top room category, and it smelled strongly of sewage when we arrived. The odor stayed through the first two nights. After we complained, a staff member sprayed room freshener and left, leaving us with sewage mixed with chemicals. We eventually went straight to the General Manager, who moved us to another room, but its strong air freshener made it hard to breathe comfortably. Reception staff didn’t apologize when we raised the problem, and seemed not to care. That felt especially careless at a property charging top-tier prices. The place calls itself a wellness destination, but a gym and spa alone don’t create the warmth, care, intention, or atmosphere we expect from one. Its website also presents a busy range of activities, including dolphin cruises and beach horseback riding. When we asked about them, we learned they were all run by outside companies with no connection to the hotel, and were simply available in the Comporta area. Listing them on the site to make the property look more appealing felt misleading and influenced our decision to book. We consider that false advertising. Prices felt excessive across the board. A 50-minute massage was €200, yoga and Pilates cost extra on top of an already expensive room, and the boutique sold basic clothes for €300, €500, and €600. We eat a plant-based diet. A few kitchen staff were genuinely helpful, but others were indifferent and careless. One server said with confidence that a bread contained egg without checking. When she asked the chef, it turned out there was no egg. She came back and told us as though nothing had happened, with no acknowledgment or apology. We’ve stayed at much warmer, more genuine wellness places for a fraction of the price. To us, this place signals wealth without offering the substance to support it. I wouldn’t recommend spending money here.

The setting was lovely and relaxing, and the facility was wonderful. We loved Quinta Da Comporta. The staff were friendly and the food was great. If you’re travelling to Lisbon or Portugal, I’d recommend making time for a relaxing couple of days here.

We kicked off our trip in comporta, and the area really lived up to its name. The dunes, seafood, and sea were all amazing, with plenty of good hotels to choose from.
