I expected little given what I paid, but there’s still a basic standard for hospitality. This was the worst accommodation experience I’ve had. I was meant to stay three nights, but the area felt unsafe as soon as I arrived, so I booked somewhere else. When I left, police were all over the area. I waited for an Uber at a nearby ice cream store, where the staff were kind and the ice cream was great. They told me there was a serious problem with dealing in the area. As a woman travelling alone, I didn’t feel comfortable staying there. There was barely any lighting on the way to the entrance. Inside, the building smelled awful, and the carpets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in over a hundred years. The twin room didn’t match the pictures, and the bathroom was worse than a public toilet. The towels were stained, and there was no soap in the dispenser. I emailed staff to ask for a refund, but they refused, saying the maintenance team had checked the place and found no faults. Absolute scam, and the service was the worst.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the size was fine. It’s a well located, cheap place, so I don’t get why the rating is so low. The walls are thin enough that you can hear neighbors snoring or having sex, but it didn’t bother me. The area felt safe to me. There may be some dealers around, but I didn’t find them dangerous. I’d stay again if the price stays attractive.

I stayed for five days in December 2019, so I can't say what the hotel is like today. The room was tiny, but it was clean, and the Lisbon location is very good. There were young people offering drugs on the street outside, and they talked noisily late into the night. The woman running the hotel was very unfriendly and practically shouted at me because I hadn't received the door code on WhatsApp when I booked. I'm updating this because I hadn't explained why I gave it such a low rating at the time.

There was no staff on site to talk to, and the area had drug dealers everywhere. Inside, the rooms were extremely cramped, with barely enough room to put things away, let alone unpack. The toilet constantly smelled of sewage and mold, and the bathroom window wouldn't shut. The walls were so thin I could hear people nearby and upstairs, including phone vibrations, conversations, and even others urinating. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.
