Hostel 18

I found the place poor in spirit, lacking life and lighting. In my view, there was a lack of training and the right profile to run a hospitality business. It seemed like someone thought just about anything could be turned into a hostel. That's all I have to say about that. Here's the story. I'm Ricardo, and because I believe we should try to become better people, I want to bring some incidents at Hostel 18 to light and give examples. From the beginning, I was the one looking after the hostel all the time. I spent my days and hours there, connected to it 24/7 throughout the year. I'd rather not talk about the low amounts I was paid for my effort, dedication, and the work I did. Was it ungrateful? Yes. I worked at the hostel with pleasure and commitment, trying to make sure everything was "new" each day, while the owner, Carina, put me down, undermined me, and underestimated me day after day. As the saying goes, tell me who you spend time with and I'll tell you who you are. Here's one example: bed linen that hadn't been changed or washed, with the customer left to make excuses for what had happened while I was the one facing them. Was there cheating? Yes. And there were lies, always, yes. Customers were humiliated. Carina spoke badly about each one behind their backs. While cleaning rooms, she would handle guests' belongings and pry through them, making discriminatory, demeaning, and derogatory remarks about each guest. For example, she picked up a customer's book and said, "This one's a Jehovah's Witness, she's reading this book, she's a Jehovah's Witness." Another time, referring to a customer to another customer, she said, "She ruined my sheets, she's got the [censored], and now she's dirtied all my sheets." At Hostel 18, customers' privacy and dignity were mistreated by Carina, through both her words and actions. She repeatedly violated each customer's privacy and dignity. Satisfied customers: 1%. Some customers were misled. Dissatisfied customers: 99%. Tell me who you spend time with and I'll tell you who you are. This isn't about leading customers astray. Customers are intelligent. The evidence is clear. The naked truth hurts. The story above did happen at that hostel, under the former owner, yes. Thank you for freedom of expression.

The room was nicely decorated, warm, and had a clean bathroom. We arrived before check-in time and were able to settle in straight away because it was vacant. No complaints from me. I recommend it, and we'll return as soon as we can.

The location is top notch, and the room was so cosy and spotless. The person in charge was really friendly. I highly recommend it, and I'll definitely be back! ❤️
