Monte do Serrado De Baixo

We spent two nights here as a family and would gladly return. The beds were super comfortable, breakfast was fabulous, and the staff were very nice. We also had pleasant outdoor seating areas and walks nearby. Reliable Wi-Fi mattered to us since we needed to work remotely, and it was dependable. Highly recommend.

We stayed in one of the two cottages, the newest rooms, and loved the design. The private pool was lovely, and the large patio is reached through floor-to-ceiling glass doors from both the living room and bedroom. Screens let us enjoy fresh air without worrying about bugs getting inside. The bedroom is separate from the living area, which was nice; there was a fully equipped kitchen, TV, dining table, and a very comfortable sofa. The room was clean and had everything we needed. On colder days, the hot shower and air conditioner were welcome. The farm is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful, with friendly staff. We took a morning walk around the property and greeted the animals, which was a lovely experience. My partner and I really enjoyed our stay. Families can book both cottages, which connect through a door, and have some private time. We'll definitely return when we're in Portugal again.

The farm was a fantastic base for our cycling trip, which portugalbestcycling organized. I came with a group from May 3 - May 10, 2025, and it was the best of the six cycling trips I've taken. Teresa runs MSDB and portugalbestcycling as a family business and was also our bike guide. We had breakfast and dinner every day, served family style. The food, rooms, surroundings, and staff were all fantastic.

Julia the farm cat is worth saying hello to, and bring a few carrots for the donkeys. The friendly staff are helpful and accommodating, and service the rooms each day with fresh towels and bed making, though you can opt out. Breakfast is included, with local bread, cheese, meat, honey, cereals with yogurt, scrambled eggs, toast, fresh fruit, and coffee. Dinner is available if you request it, but try to book the night before. There are four serviced rooms in the old main house, with different options for different tastes and budgets. They're comfortable and well equipped, with tea and coffee facilities, private bathrooms and entrances, and mostly their own outdoor seating areas. The grounds are impressive, with a large pool, plus two self-catering cottages new for 2024, each with its own pool. Monte do Serrado de Baixo is about 10 minutes from Évora centre, secluded and quiet, but handy for the main routes. You can relax with country air and a glass of wine, or take guided hikes, cycle, or canoe directly from the farm; bikes are also available to rent and ride solo. For sightseeing, there's Évora's historic centre, or places farther out like Monsaraz, with its hilltop castle and a river beach a short drive away at the lake. Vineyard and cheese maker visits are options too, and Alentejo has great food. It's a great place to spend a week or more and return to.
