ALTIDO Downtown Blue Apartments

We spent three nights in this three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in midsummer, and it was a very disappointing stay. The place should not have been rented in that condition. After contacting the management company on our first morning about all the problems, we asked at least for another fan. They said they'd get back to me but never did. I followed up on their website, and by the time they replied, we were checking out. After a lot of back and forth, they offered €48 back. That was frankly a joke. A fair resolution would have been at least a 50% refund. Thankfully the visit was short. I can't recommend the apartment unless these issues are addressed. The bedrooms had no air conditioning, despite it being advertised. It was unbearably hot in Lisbon's summer, and there were only two fans for three bedrooms, so we had to open the windows. The apartment faces a busy road, and the constant traffic made sleeping impossible. Construction in another unit woke us at 6 AM every morning. Even in the living area, the air conditioning barely worked, and it stayed around 25°C. There were serious problems with the building and amenities too. The elevator light was out, leaving it completely dark, and giant cockroaches were coming in and out of it. A large block of ice had built up in the refrigerator, so it didn't cool properly. Ants infested the kitchen and got into a lot of our food. They even ate butter left in a dish. The internet didn't reach the bedrooms, and the phone system for buzzing people into the building didn't work. The furniture wasn't acceptable either. One bedroom bed had a fake leather covering that was peeling. Rather than replace it, someone peeled it further into shapes like children's drawings, apparently to make it look “decorative.” It looked ridiculous and unprofessional.

Mine was a lovely find on Joivy, at a good price for the value. It's a very spacious three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in the heart of Lisboa, though I understand there are several apartments in this old building. The balcony overlooks a garden. My only complaint is some noise, since the windows open right onto Madalena street, but I was okay with that. I'd give the location 5*, and the rooms and cleanliness 4-4.5*.

The apartment was generally quite good, but the sofa bed was so awful that sleeping on it was impossible. It needs replacing. There wasn't much kitchenware either, with hardly any glasses or cutlery, and the dryer didn't work. A bit more equipment and better cleaning would have made the experience much better.
