Blue Budget Apartments Bairro Alto

The staff were really nice, and our apartment was great. We only stayed for the weekend, but it was big enough to live in for a week easily. We'll definitely go back!

The outside doesn't do the apartment justice. Inside, it was great, clean, well organized, and had a well-equipped kitchen. Two lights were burned out when we arrived, but they replaced them quickly after we asked. There are three flights of stairs, and the way from the entrance to the apartment feels a little gloomy. Still, given the location and price, it's really worth it. Let them know if you're arriving for check-in in the early hours, since reception isn't open and nobody is on duty in case you need help.

The apartment was renovated and had all the comforts, right in the heart of Bairro Alto and very close to the city center. It's on the second floor with no elevator, reached by a steep wooden staircase. I loved that detail, it gave the place a touch of authenticity. The street is lively, so there's plenty of music in the evenings, which is part of its charm. Staff were courteous and helpful. A young man at reception spoke Italian and let us store our luggage on the morning we left. Excellent value for money.

For the price, it's a decent apartment, though it does need renovation. There are several apartments and you don't know which one you'll get. Number 23 is right across from a cozy bar, but the music is quite audible, so you need to be okay with that.
