The new windows made a real difference to the street noise, and I slept better than I ever have in the middle of a city. The apartment was lovely to unwind in, with a superb kitchen fitted with Miele appliances. The building and all the apartments have been freshly renovated.

We had a wonderful week and will definitely come back. The apartment was finished to a five-star standard, with great heating, lighting, hot water, and very comfortable beds. Street noise was kept out well, too. Housekeeping was efficient and unobtrusive. Tiago, Beatrix and Hugo made the stay especially warm and personal. Nothing seemed to be a problem for them, and their attention to detail and gentle humour really stood out.

Getting around from the tail of Alfama, at the edge of the Baixa, was easy. We could walk to many places or reach trams, buses, the metro and ferry. The stairs are a different matter: if you have a stroller or mobility issues, keep in mind that car access is limited and Ubers won't reach the hotel entrance. Unless you arrive by taxi, there are two flights to climb each time, including with your bags. We managed, but it wasn't ideal. We also had to use those stairs whenever we came back from the metro or Uber. The apartment was brand new, beautifully furnished and finished, with all the amenities we could need. The front desk staff were excellent, especially Hugo. But the new hotel still had things to sort out. Our air conditioning and hot water kept failing despite several staff attempts to fix them, and we found a couple of items left by previous guests in the drawers.

The staff were all excellent, and I especially appreciated the kind, helpful receptionist who assisted my friend and me when we had been scammed. The rooms were beautiful, tidy and well cared for, with a lovely smell and spotless cleanliness. One of the best places I've stayed. I'd happily return and recommend it.
