I’d stay here again. The location is incredibly handy, the price felt fair, and the smooth check-in and check-out caused no trouble. The clean room had a comfortable bed, a fine shower, air conditioning set at 16c that suited me, and plenty of amenities. There’s also laundry on site, which was a nice bonus. The bathroom was clean, though the lamp above the sink didn’t work and a little more attention to detail would help. Yes, it’s a very noisy street, right in the middle of the party scene. The windows cut out about 75-80% of the sound, and I brought earplugs, so I slept comfortably. Younger travelers and adventurous older ones could both enjoy it. Just look into the neighborhood first: every night feels like a holiday here, and that’s not the owner’s fault.

Getting an early check-in was handy, and the hosts were easy to reach. The check-in itself went smoothly. The room was spacious, with a small kitchen and bathroom. The nighttime noise was the big problem. It was so loud the walls seemed to shake, and sleeping before 3 a.m. wasn’t possible. It was hell. The bathroom had cracks and looked unclean enough that I needed flip-flops to shower comfortably. Staff could be loud too, and the office door was left open, adding to the noise. The area was also dirty after the nearby nightlife. If you need peace and quiet, keep all that in mind before booking "Do Bairro" in Lisbon.

There was a sewage smell as soon as I entered the lobby, and it got worse in the bathroom and bedroom. I found a cockroach in my bed on the first night. The place was filthy and unhygienic, with outdated bathrooms, water damage, and stains across the floor. Leaks and foul-smelling flooding kept leaving unsanitary puddles. I really do not recommend it.

Bed bugs can ruin a holiday. We’d booked four nights, but after two we had to find somewhere else once the bites began appearing. Checking the mattress showed the bugs were still active, and old blood stains on the protector suggested they’d been there for a while and it hadn’t been laundered. They refused compensation beyond refunding the two unused nights. Extremely disappointing.
