HF Fénix Garden

We spent three nights here in mid-March 2026. The hotel is near a Metro station, and getting there from the airport by Metro was easy. It's also near the starting point for the Hop On Hop Off buses, with good restaurants and a Spar convenience store nearby. Our room was on the 7th floor facing Eduardo VII park, which was a nice view in the daytime. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet had a large selection of hot and cold food, and the bed and room were comfortable. Shampoo/body wash and a hair dryer were provided, but there was no conditioner or face cloth. There isn't a restaurant apart from breakfast. A couple of umbrellas are available, but you have to sign a form agreeing to pay 25 Euros if one is lost or damaged. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. The shower water swung between comfortable and scalding hot during my morning showers. Staff said the new boiler had fixed the issue, but it kept happening the second day too. I suspect toilets flushing in the morning may briefly use up the cold water. A pressure-balancing or thermostatic shower valve could prevent this, so I don't think the boiler was the problem. I learned to watch for changes in water pressure as a warning and took very short showers. The tub bottom was also so slippery I nearly fell while trying to get away from the hot water. Staff said there were no bath mats, so they gave me bath towels to stand on. That helped, but it means the first shower is still in a slippery tub. Also, “facing the park” means facing a busy street. We expected a quiet view, but there was heavy traffic and emergency sirens late at night and early in the morning. The windows didn't block the noise. Light sleepers should bring earplugs. If the water temperature problem were fixed, there were bath mats, and you had a room facing the inner courtyard, the hotel would be fine.

Sergio at breakfast was a highlight. He greeted me by name, and the staff in general were amazing, friendly, and helpful. The room was very clean and okay, but the bed was so hard I had to ask for a mattress topper, and the pillows were horrible. I was told the “fridge” was just a cupboard when I reported it broken. It looks like a fridge to me, and I think they'd somehow turned off the cooling. Since I stayed 12 nights, that was really disappointing.

The garden was a peaceful, really nice place to sit and talk. Rooms were very clean, and the cleaner did an amazing job every day. Staff were lovely and shared lots of good local ideas for things to do and places to eat. Breakfast tasted fresh each day, was delicious, and had loads of variety. The location was amazing, close to everything. At Christmas it's right beside Wonderland Lisboa and the Metro, and it's a 20-minute walk to the center of Lisbon. Definitely recommend!

We left with lovely memories, though we were sad to go. There was traffic noise from room 507, but it didn't bother us, and we had no complaints about the stay. The whole team made our first holiday together, which was also for my partner's birthday, feel so special. From the start, everything was perfect and the staff went above and beyond. A special thank you to Sergio, whom we met at breakfast. He made us feel like the most important people in the hotel, then surprised us with glasses of bubbly and a birthday cake even though we hadn't mentioned the birthday. My partner was in tears at how special it felt. Sergio is an absolute star and a huge asset to the company. All the staff were amazing, and we hope to come back and see everyone again.
