For what it costs, it's hard to complain, but we ran into quite a few problems in our twin private room. The room and bed were clean, the wifi was decent, the location was okay, and the self-catering setup did the job. The "free breakfast" was laid out the night before and left there. The milk was so curdled it couldn't be used. This felt more like a family home renting out rooms than a regular hostel, and the family would stay up late talking very loudly. Our door only shut when locked, which was inconvenient, and the lock seemed so poor it could easily be picked. There was a strong mould smell as we came in, although the place otherwise seemed clean.

Our room was big, sweet, clean, and cozy, and the bathrooms were really good too. We arrived in the middle of the night and were met with a very friendly welcome. Loved the place!

The family were lovely and accommodating, and we had a great stay. It's up on a hill, but still not too far from most of Lisbon. I'd definitely recommend it.

I didn't stay overnight, but stopped in for lunch and really enjoyed it. The Portuguese dishes were nice, and I was surprised to find a few from the south of Portugal, from the Algarve. Yum, yum 😋
