Lisbon Canaan Boutique Apartments Gaivotas

We booked the penthouse, which is huge, with two rooms and two bathrooms. Everything was new, clean, and tidy. There's a lift, hair dryer, iron, all-in-one laundry machine, and dishwasher. The location's good too, with a bus or tram just downstairs. The owner was helpful. At this price, it's a steal!

The apartment was spacious, with three bathrooms, and the location was excellent. But there were too many cleanliness, maintenance, and safety problems. The floors looked dirty, and a strong damp, musty smell filled the place. There was visible mould on the walls, and the pillows smelled musty too. The sofa was worn out and should be replaced. The washing machine wouldn't work properly, and we had to call an engineer to empty it because its door wouldn't open. I also got a small electric shock from a socket in the smaller bedroom, which is a serious safety concern. I recommend the management or owners investigate and fix these issues urgently so future guests can stay safely and comfortably.

The high ceilings and spacious layout were lovely, and the apartment is in a great location. Sadly, the rest of the stay was disappointing. My room smelled unpleasant, a bit like stale urine. The host kindly changed the duvet when I asked, which helped somewhat, but the smell didn't go away. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows were so thin they barely seemed to be there. The towels were very worn, one with holes, and there was rust and mould in the shower. For what I paid, I expected somewhere cleaner, fresher, and more comfortable.

The location and air conditioning were the only things going for this downstairs apartment. There was noise from outside, upstairs, and other people in the apartment, including when they used the bathroom. It was dark, with about half the lights not working, and the remaining lights weren't enough. There wasn't a padlock on the front door or a lock on the bathroom door. The bedroom door jammed so badly we were afraid to shut it. The furniture was worn out and barely adequate, and there was nowhere to put clothes in the bedrooms. All the bathroom towel hangers looked ready to fall off the walls, and there was rust and mould everywhere in the bathroom.
