LxWay Apartments Alfama/Museu do Fado

We were so shocked and disgusted that we moved somewhere else that same evening. The place was dirty and unwelcoming, and enormous cockroaches crawled across the floor under our feet. The stairs leading in felt dangerous, and the building was much more rundown than the one in the profile photo. I strongly advise against staying here.

The apartment is spacious and in a very good spot in Alfama, but the problems were hard to ignore. The cupboard tops were extremely dirty, the bathroom fan didn’t work, and using the toilet was so cramped you’d have to be a contortionist. The bed legs were broken, leaving the beds unstable, and the stairs to the apartment were dangerous.

The location is perfect, and the check-in directions were perfect too. The WiFi and TV worked well. But the place was unsanitary, with cockroaches and a musty smell, and the lighting was poor. The staircase isn’t suitable for older people, anyone with disabilities, or children. The bathroom was so bad we bought bleach and used three bottles in three days just to get by. There were no cupboards for plates or glasses, just space under the sink pipes, and the sagging sofa couldn’t be used.

The building is crawling with cockroaches. We killed five in just twenty minutes.
