Hotel Moon & Sun Lisboa

Breakfast was delicious every morning, with fresh fruit, pastries, made-to-order omelettes, juice smoothies and specialty coffees. Michele in the breakfast area was so attentive and friendly. We got a great city-view room, and Daniel and Francisco made check-in wonderful. Raises, Antonia and Carmen were sweet and helpful too, sharing lots of tips on food and things to do. The location was perfect for getting around. We’d definitely choose Moon and Sun again.

The reception team really made our stay. They explained how to use public transport, and when we came back after missing our train to Porto because our travel agency hadn’t given us enough information, the receptionist quickly found another option and arranged a taxi. The hotel is also very well placed, within two blocks of the Santa Justa Lift and Rua Augusta Arch. We spent four nights here. The quiet rooms were clean and comfortable, and housekeeping did a good job. Breakfast had a buffet plus delicious eggs made to order, including Benedict, scrambled and omelettes. The breakfast server was pleasant and attentive. I rarely write reviews, but our experience at Moon & Sun Lisboa deserved a strong recommendation.

We stayed as a family of four in two rooms and would happily recommend it. The rooms were a great size and exceptionally clean, and the staff were great. It’s a small, boutique-like hotel with a good restaurant breakfast and snacks. The location is excellent, though the area is very busy and touristy. Teens will love it. Definitely a five-star stay.

The lobby and hallways had such a strong body odor that we avoided the elevator and even changed our clothes because the smell clung to them. Our first night was miserable too. The air conditioning in our high-floor room seemed broken, and it was 26 degrees Celsius. The window let in no air, and opening it meant bright light came into the room, so sleep was difficult either way. Staff argued when we reported it, did nothing, and refused to offer a worse room as an alternative. They also wouldn’t let you set the air below 20, even if it had worked. The evening staff seemed either inexperienced in hospitality or simply uncaring, I’m not sure which. Their attitude felt especially poor for the price and the hotel’s claimed quality. A piece of cake on arrival would have mattered less than decent service. The hotel’s online popularity seems to have hurt its quality. There are better-value places nearby with friendlier staff. Moon Sun needs to remember what kind of business it’s in.
