The people here made the biggest impression on me. They were warm, attentive and efficient, always willing to help and making me feel valued. The balance of friendliness and professionalism was rare. The facilities were also spotless, modern, well maintained and thoughtfully designed, from the rooms to the shared spaces and leisure amenities. Everything felt welcoming and luxurious from the moment I arrived. I left relaxed and appreciated, already looking forward to coming back. This may be the best hotel stay I’ve ever had, and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting comfort, quality and outstanding service.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The room wasn’t large, but worked for two people, with room to open two large suitcases and a big wardrobe. It’s right in the middle of the city, with the old town, uphill areas, seaside and tram 28 all within walking distance. A chain supermarket and a yummy seafood rice place are close by. It was also quiet at night, which mattered a lot to us. The temperature was the one issue. Guests didn’t seem able to control the AC system. The first night it was in HEAT mode, which was really uncomfortable for us, then the next night it switched to COLD mode by itself and was perfect. Also, don’t open the window, lots of small flies come in. Highly recommend staying here.

We stayed three nights, and even though we arrived before check-in, the staff stored our bags. The lobby is small, quiet, modern and well kept. Our room was on the small side, and got a bit cramped with our suitcases, but the bathroom and closets had plenty of storage for clothes. There was a cute balcony overlooking the area, and the blackout curtains were a great addition. I found the beds a little firm and the pillows somewhat uncomfortable, though it wasn’t a problem. Noise travelled through the building: we could hear people talking, doors closing and cars late at night and early in the morning. It’s a very central spot in an old European building, so that was expected, but worth knowing if you’re sensitive to noise while sleeping. The staff were friendly, and housekeeping came in even after we left our room late one day because of jet lag. My friend and I would stay again.

On our return to My Story Hotel Tejo, the temperature was handled much better, which we appreciated. The first stay, March 17-19, and our second visit on March 23, were harder. As older travelers, we need a comfortable room and a good night's sleep. The temperature swung from about 20°C to as high as 28.5°C despite several requests, and on some nights it became too warm again, so we had to call the front desk. We slept well on the one night it was set correctly, but after a long journey the other nights were difficult. In our past travels around Europe, in both budget and high-end hotels, we hadn't run into this before. Later we stayed at Mediodia Hotel in Madrid. The room felt warm at first because of the heater, but we could adjust the individual air conditioning and the temperature stayed steady. At My Story Hotel Tejo, the air conditioning seems to be controlled centrally, leaving guests unable to set it themselves. This may be a small inconvenience for younger travelers, but dependable temperature control matters for older guests' comfort and health. If it isn't addressed, future guests may have the same problem.
