Ola Lisbon - Castelo II

The hotel is very comfortable, with excellent amenities and friendly, welcoming staff who were always ready to help. Its location makes exploring the city easy, and I’d definitely recommend staying here. I had hesitated because of some reviews, but in retrospect they didn’t match what we experienced. The hill and the peacocks were both there, but neither made our stay worse. If anything, they added charm and made it more enjoyable.

The courtyard is a lovely place to spend time when the weather’s good, and the resident peacocks might come by. There’s also a small museum downstairs that’s worth seeing. This historic spot sits on castle grounds and used to be the castle kitchen. Service was exceptional, with transfers, an honesty bar, happy hour, and a fantastic breakfast each day. I also appreciated the complimentary decanter of Ruby Port in the room.

You’re surrounded by heritage here, with a lovely garden and a stunning location near several places to visit. The room decor felt a little old, but the bathroom and garden were excellent. I also got complimentary welcome drinks and water. The receptionist and housekeeper were wonderful. During my consecutive nights there, they cleaned my room every day, always smiling and making me feel welcome.

There was a lot to enjoy, including spotless rooms and grounds, attentive staff who were ready to help, and fun peacocks that we didn’t hear at night. The mattress felt stiff to us, though others may prefer that, and the pillows were very thin. We asked for more and received plenty. Staff quickly brought pool towels and complimentary flip-flops to the plunge pool after we mentioned we wanted to go in. My one real complaint is cigarette smoke on the patio. It drifted over during meals, and we couldn’t leave the room windows open without smoke getting inside. There’s plenty of space beyond the hotel walls for smoking. Apart from that, this place was fantastic, and if smoke doesn’t bother you, you’ll have a perfect time. We loved our stay!
