Pestana Lisboa Vintage City Center Suites

We had a four-day city break with friends and found the hotel very clean, well located, and welcoming. The room was compact but comfortable. Breakfast cost extra, but was reasonably priced and had lots of choice. It’s about a 25-minute walk from most attractions, with easy metro access. I’d certainly recommend it.

We’re a family of four, two adults and two children, and the room with two single beds and a sofa bed suited us well. It was clean, comfortable, and nicely maintained, and the little kitchenette was a great bonus. European rooms are often not especially large, but this one was functional and well designed. Breakfast was included, though very basic and the same every day. The location in central Lisbon made exploring easy. The hop-on hop-off bus stop was just steps away, with plenty of good restaurants and cafés around us. We had a great stay and would come back for the comfort, value, and location.

Our room’s layout was a mess. A structural support post stood in the middle of the sitting area, with a useless round table and one chair by the desk. The window looked over a garbage dumpster and construction site. The sofa bed sat so low you practically needed help getting up, and the bedroom was awkward too. There was no dresser or shelving, though our friends had those in their room. We’d requested twin beds but got a queen dressed with two sets of bedding to look like twins. 😂 We rearranged things to suit ourselves, then put them back before leaving. A bench had to come out of the bedroom so we could get around the beds without tripping or banging our legs. There was no closet, just a coat rack in the bedroom. We had a good laugh, but for the price we expected better. At least the bathroom had a door, unlike one place in Barcelona! We couldn’t work out the main waterfall shower head, only the tiny one underneath. Good thing we’re short. Our travel companions had a great room with a Juliet balcony and wonderful view. Ours should have been a storage room, it was really unsuitable as a hotel room. There was a nice shared kitchen for anyone wanting to cook, but a plate, mug, and spoon were left unwashed throughout our two-day stay. We couldn’t find any kitchen linens, and the room attendant apparently didn’t do dishes. 😂 The ice machine and lounge were on the 7th (?) floor, with apples for snacks and vending machines for other snacks. Remember, most hotels in Europe don’t provide washcloths, so bring your own. We came prepared. The staff were mostly helpful, though one person had no sense of direction and sent us on a wild goose chase. 🙄 If you just need a place to sleep and shower, this could work, but I wouldn’t stay longer than a day or two unless you get a better room.

The lounge was a really nice surprise, with water and ice available around the clock and complimentary green apples. That little touch made us smile. We also got a room upgrade, which was a lovely gesture. The hotel is well equipped and in a perfect spot, and we felt at home. Patrícia and André welcomed us at check-in with real warmth and professionalism. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly come back and recommend it.
