Hotel Varandazul

For the room quality, it felt expensive. We were on the ground floor, and the noise meant we couldn’t leave the window open. The AC was too loud to keep running, and the room smelled as though it had been shut up for ages. The bathroom was old, and water sprayed everywhere from the taps. Breakfast was basic, with awful factory-made croissants. I wouldn’t stay again.

I really enjoyed staying here. The staff were warm and kind in a way that felt genuine, and the family-run service made it feel like actual people were looking after us. I miss hotels like this. Some reviews say it needs refurbishment, but I liked its character. So many places have gone for the same modern boutique look, and this one felt distinct. It’s priced well for budget travelers, and breakfast was included: coffee, fresh juice, croissants, bread, ham, cheese, and jams. The hotel was very clean, and the housekeepers were incredibly sweet. They even ironed our dresses themselves for the wedding we were in town to attend. I like supporting local businesses instead of corporate places, and this was a nice surprise. The nearby lunch and dinner recommendation was spot on. I’d love to return.

Comfortable, friendly staff, and reasonably priced. Very nice.

The staff were so welcoming and wonderful. Great value for money in the area.
