In the morning, have a cup of coffee while looking at the city from the window. You can take a walk and explore the neighbourhood area of the hotel — Museu da Renda de Bilros de Peniche, National Museum of Resistance and Freedom and Fortaleza.

This is a modest guest house, without a fancy interior or trendy hostel atmosphere, but it covered what an average solo traveler or couple would need. My room was tidy and clean, with fresh bedding, a big window, and plenty of outlets. Nothing in it bothered me, though I did feel cold on late September nights because there was no heating. The manager, Mário, was helpful at any hour. Staff checked during the day whether I wanted fresh towels or room cleaning. The location is excellent, with supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, ATMs, and a laundromat just steps away. The harbor is a five to seven minute walk, and there's a cosy terrace overlooking the town square.

As a solo cyclist, I appreciated that the owner let me store my bike in the ground-floor living area. The owner was very nice. My simple room was comfortable and clean, with a view of the plaza, and the bathroom was shared.

The beds were comfortable, and the room was very clean and well situated, though modest and old. We were on the ground floor near traffic, so it could be noisy, but the windows blocked the sound well. That might be an issue on hot nights. The towels were very worn, the pillows so thin they were useless, and several things in the room were broken. The price was low, but we found much better hotels for the same money on the following nights. Fine for sleeping one night.

For what it costs, this place is great. It's clean, towels are changed every day, and the host is very nice and respectful. Getting in and out is easy, and the location is pretty accessible.
