This country house on the Duoro River has such peaceful scenery, wonderful facilities, and a friendly, helpful team. The owners greeted us, showed us around the property, and talked about the harvest underway. Francesco, our concierge, was charming and always ready to help. Staying at Quinta Dona Matilda went beyond what we expected and beat any hotel experience we’ve had in Portugal. Just a lovely stay.

I’d been planning a proposal during our stay and was in touch with Francisco beforehand. He and the staff went above and beyond with their service, making sure all the details of the moment felt special. The views are incredible, and our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. I can’t say enough good things about Quinta Dona Matilde. Thanks for everything!

Our April 2024 visit was a great way to experience the Douro Valley. The Quinta sits high above the river at the end of a winding but well-marked road, and the rooms look out over the valley with the River below. The property is beautiful, and we enjoyed the infinity pool with the same view. Staff were excellent and took care of everything we needed. We also had a wine tasting on the patio, where our host helpfully suggested and reserved other Quintas for the following day.

A really beautiful property in a great spot next to the Douro River. The room was solid and clean, breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly. And the wines were amazing. Lovely place for an authentic stay at a traditional family-owned vineyard, highly recommend.
