Hotel Grande Rio

We left after one night and moved to another hotel. Across our travels in 30+ countries, this was by far the worst experience we’ve had. The room was in awful condition and much smaller than the pictures made it look. There was black mold all over the bathroom walls, clumps of hair on the floor, and dirty sheets that didn’t cover the blanket properly, leaving part of it exposed. When we raised the problems at reception, the person there just said, “Okay, just leave.” For what we paid, it felt like a tourist trap. We found another hotel in the same price range with much better conditions.

The location is close to the centre but still quiet and peaceful. My room was clean and quite small, though big enough for a couple of days. I stayed one night, and having a front desk open all night was great since I landed in Porto at midnight.

The staff offered to help us find our way around Porto and gave us a map, and check-in was quick. It’s a fantastic spot near the centre but outside the most touristy area, so you can find better restaurants. The rooms are modern and clean, with a surprisingly large bathroom for this kind of hotel. A very good basic place, just a short walk from the city centre.

A friendly staff and a peaceful part of the city, with several supermarkets nearby. The rooms are clean and have everything you need, though they’re not large. It’s a very good option for a short Porto stay. The metro station is nearly a 2-minute walk away. City Hall is about 15 minutes on foot, the historic part of the city 25 minutes, and the riverside 35 minutes.
