Parklands

Larry and Yvonne are great hosts. They live upstairs, but you hardly notice them unless you need something. They're also available on WhatsApp if you need help, like with the entertainment system, and they made it clear we didn't have to keep quiet. The entire ground floor was ours, and it felt close to luxurious, with everything there in great condition. We naturally wanted to take good care of it, but a mishap like a broken glass was no problem. When we asked for a full tablecloth instead of the individual mats, they brought one over soon after. The place has three bedrooms, a large American-style kitchen and living room, a big wooden dining table, sofas, and a TV system with loads of channels and movies. There was also a garage with ping pong and darts, plus a garden with a barbecue we used three times and a fairly large inflatable round pool. The AC was powerful enough that we barely noticed the 2018 heat wave. Food and drinks were waiting when we arrived. We used some supplies, including barbecue charcoal, and didn't replace them before leaving, but that was fine. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. We bought groceries at a supermarket about a 10-minute drive away, and both the dishwasher and washing machine worked very well. There's a river beach about 10 minutes away if you like that kind of popular place, and the Mira de Aire caves are beautiful and around 30 minutes away. To get to Lisboa, you can drive 40 minutes to Santarem, park for free, and take a train from there. Highly recommend the place.
