Being right by the souq made it easy to explore on foot, and the staff were attentive, from security through to maintenance. I stayed two nights at one of the Tivoli Hotels in Souq Waqif while trying Qatar Airways' stopover program for the first time, on a trip from Miami to Nairobi. The room was comfortable, too. Desert Rose is just around the corner and well worth a visit for its good food and lovely atmosphere.
The best part for me was stepping straight into the energy of Souq Waqif, with its restaurants and traditional shops right outside. Inside, Al Jomrok Boutique Hotel is a calm place to come back to, in a beautifully restored building with Qatari character and modern comforts. The decor felt authentic, the rooms were roomy and comfortable, and I liked the peaceful atmosphere and thoughtful touches. The staff were warm and attentive, and their suggestions for seeing the souq and other areas were really useful. Al Jomrok Boutique Hotel gives you a taste of Qatari culture while still feeling like a five-star stay. I’d recommend it for a Doha visit, whether for work or a holiday.
A “city view” room may just have a small closed window facing the corridor. Also, booking through the website can mean your room, pool, and breakfast are in three different properties. There are five hotels in the Souq area under the same chain, so check where each part of your stay will be.
The souk market is right outside, with loads of places to eat and traditional stalls nearby. It’s a convenient base for most places you might want to visit. The staff are very professional, and Diana, who cleaned our room, was especially friendly, helpful, and professional.
The rooftop view is beautiful, and it’s a really relaxing spot.
