My stay was really disappointing, and I wouldn’t come back or recommend this hotel. There’s no zero-star option, or that’s what I would’ve given it. Getting ready was a hassle because there was no mirror in the bedroom and no plug in the bathroom, so I couldn’t use a mirror to straighten my hair. It’s such a basic thing, and the inconvenience actually put me in a bad mood on the days I stayed there. The receptionist was disrespectful and unprofessional, and simple questions made us feel like we were bothering her instead of being welcomed. The stay didn’t meet even basic expectations, and there are better hotel options in Bucharest.

The thin walls meant I could hear everything in the hallways and nearby rooms, making it extremely hard to sleep and rest. I also found it surprisingly difficult to get extra towels. The room cleaning wasn’t done properly, and bed sheets were changed only if I specifically asked, which should be standard for a hotel of this category. The hotel advertises itself as four-star, but its service and cleanliness don’t match that rating. Better maintenance, cleaning, and service could make the experience much better.

The location is okay, and the rooms are comfortable but not large. Mine had a huge double bed, an espresso machine, and a refrigerator, but the TV didn’t work. There’s a small clothes rack with too few shelves for storage and more space for hangers. The shower is small, with old, dilapidated equipment, and hot water takes about 10 minutes to arrive. Breakfast can be ordered and is reasonable. The price was about 300 shekels a night, including breakfast. There’s also a private shuttle from the airport to the hotel. The room door isn’t soundproof, so hallway conversations come through whenever someone talks there.

Andreea was a real highlight of the hotel. She welcomed us so kindly and suggested several restaurants, all of which were fantastic. She’s professional, friendly, helpful, and reliable, qualities that are hard to find even after several years working in hospitality. Hold on to her!

My only small letdown was a misunderstanding about breakfast. At the rate I paid, which felt on the premium side for Bucharest, I assumed it was included. It actually costs an extra €11. The breakfast itself was excellent, with fresh pastries, great coffee, and plenty of hot and cold options, but clearer wording at booking would have avoided the surprise. Apart from that, my four nights at Leonardo Hotel Bucharest City Center left me genuinely impressed. The room was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a great bed, powerful shower, fast Wi-Fi, and a nice city view. It’s a short walk to the Old Town, with cafes and restaurants nearby, while still far enough from the busiest streets to be peaceful at night. The staff made the stay memorable. The front desk greeted me warmly, arranged early check-in without hesitation, found me a quiet high-floor room as requested, and surprised me with a complimentary upgrade when one became available. The concierge recommended hidden-gem restaurants, booked taxis, and gave spot-on directions with a smile. Housekeeping kept the room spotless every day and happily brought extra pillows and refreshed the towels later when I asked. The service felt personal, proactive, and caring, some of the best I’ve experienced in Europe. I’d happily return next time I’m in town. With outstanding comfort and service, the hotel more than made up for that little breakfast hiccup. If you’re happy to add the very reasonable €11 breakfast, or find a rate that includes it, this place is a winner. Highly recommended, 4.7/5 stars, basically a five, with just a tiny deduction for my own wrong assumption about breakfast!
