This was my second work trip here in two weeks, and the water has been a very bad experience both times. Last time, it took over 20 minutes for the shower to get warm and build pressure. This week there was barely any pressure at all, even when I held the shower head up. After a 500+ km drive, I couldn’t even take a shower. That’s really bad for such an expensive hotel.

I couldn’t get into my room when I checked in, and then had to wait about 20 minutes for the shower water to get hot. There was no Wi-Fi in my room, and the hotel phone didn’t work, so I couldn’t reach the front office. Staff seemed apathetic about fixing any of it. There are much better places to stay nearby.

We’ve spent several Christmases here and returned a couple of times in summer. It’s probably one of the best places to experience traditional Romanian life at Christmas, including the customs and cuisine. Our stays have meant comfortable rooms, though some are newer and more modern than others, great food, very nice staff, and prompt communication.

At Platoul Drumețului, the meat was cooked until it was burnt black, and the sausages were extremely dry, with no juiciness or flavor. The potato wedges were oily, heavy, and unpleasant to eat. The so-called “salad” was just a few unwashed leaves on the plate, more like a joke than a proper side. It was a poorly prepared meal, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The bathroom tiles had ingrained dirt, and the whole place looked a bit run down. Rooms get hot because the heat pumps only blow hot air, and they’re noisy too: traffic out front, barking dogs behind, and drunk guests in the corridor. The restaurant staff can come across as surly.
