Al Rayah Grand Hotel

The staff were rude, apart from the receptionist. To get to the restaurant, we had to take the emergency stairs because the elevator wouldn't stop at the M floor. The dining room was small, dirty, and smelled bad, and there was garbage along the hallway to our cramped room. Some rooms even had a large hole in the bathroom ceiling. The water went off twice because of a broken pipe, leaving us unable to use the toilet. The lobby smelled when we came in, and the lifts were slow and sounded like they might fall apart. This hotel badly needs renovation.

I’d avoid this hotel if you have another option. It can hold nearly 1,000 people, but the four elevators are too small for that many guests, and often one or more are out for servicing. The hotel is close to Masjid-al-Haram, but has poor internet, no Wi-Fi on individual floors, no room intercoms, and no AC remotes. The water taps are old and broken, there’s no mineral water for guests, and cleanliness and staff professionalism are both lacking. DATE: 2022-07-19 (TUESDAY)

The staff were rude and discourteous, and there were ants and flies everywhere. The beds were awful, the furniture old, and the toilet taps leaked. The plastic covers and old TV were in poor shape, and none of the remotes had covers. The AC remotes didn't work, and the unit made noise. The whole property needs a makeover and pest control. It was a really bad stay, with no peace of mind and no value for money.

The staff were great, and there’s free Wi-Fi plus a small cafe to spend time in. It’s not too far from gate number 1 of masjid al haram. The downsides are the water shortage, which was terrible, and the mess area is too small. There are too many rooms for only four lifts, so we often took the stairs.
