Patatran Village

The balcony view from our superior room was wonderful. The hotel food was the best we had in Seychelles, especially the food Chef Deepak made. His sandwich was fantastic, and the spaghetti was even better. There were good options for vegetarians, and the cocktails were great too.

The location by Anse Patates was really nice, and we enjoyed the fresh fruit at breakfast. The omelet was also very well prepared. We rented the simple bikes for three days. The stairs up to the restaurant were very slippery, and I fell down them. It wasn't pleasant, and I later learned back home that I'd broken my hand. We booked a standard room, which felt limited and outdated, though the shower had hot water. The bed mattress wasn't very good. The new rooms beside the main building would be a better choice. We still enjoyed La Dique and Anse Patates.

After a tiring stay in Praslin, the bungalow-style room here gave us the rest we needed. It was clean and well kept, with a breathtaking view. The hotel's spacious, beautiful grounds were also well maintained, and the location is hard to beat. The food was varied and delicious, and service was professional. We especially want to mention the staff in the bar and restaurant. They were attentive, professional, and simply kind-hearted, and they made our stay unforgettable. We'll really miss them. I hope management knows how incredible these employees are. We also used the rental bicycles. They're a bit old, but worked perfectly for exploring the island. The pool was cleaned daily and a pleasure to swim in. Our time at the Patatran Hotel was truly wonderful. With a few needed investments and renovations in the future, it can stay a fantastic place for memorable holidays.

The rooms are very basic, the Wi-Fi barely works unless you stand by reception, and the towels feel like sandpaper. The stairs at Villa Des Flots are extremely steep, so I wouldn't recommend them for older guests or anyone with knee problems. We were told to pay the day after arriving. Before the trip, we'd asked if we could pay in dollars and were told that was fine, but at checkout they used the most expensive exchange rate, adding 50usd. They said the rate is standard and changes every day, but this was the only one of the four Seychelles hotels we stayed at that handled it this way. If they had a special rate, they should have mentioned it when we asked. Paying was unpleasant too. The staff were rude and unhelpful, and the person who seemed to be the manager kept making faces at us. They refused one of our older dollars and then had no change for 50, even though they knew we were arriving to pay in dollars. They insisted this is how every hotel works, but I work in hotels and that's not how it works. Friends staying at another hotel in La Digue checked in on the same date and paid a cheaper, more reasonable exchange rate.
