Eksjo Stadshotell

The location is excellent, and the rooms are comfortable and in very good shape. We also ate really well at the restaurant, easily a 6 out of 5. Full five stars from me.

The staff were welcoming and the rooms were fine. On my previous visit, I had a nice stay, but this time was less satisfying. The breakfast was very limited because of Covid-19. I would at least have expected the option to order a hot dish, but there wasn’t one. The website should have explained that beforehand. I also don’t understand why they put the few guests they had in rooms right next to each other when the walls are so thin.

The beds were really comfortable, and our corner room felt cozy. The hotel itself was great, and the restaurant food was good too. The service there was awful, though. It took two hours from start to finish for me and my three-year-old son, even though we only ordered main courses, plus ice cream for him.

The room was quite small, even though we’d booked a deluxe double. There’s no air conditioning or way to adjust the bedroom temperature, so they provide a fan. The hotel is in the city centre, and evenings can get pretty noisy. You need to book ahead to get a table at the restaurant. We weren’t told how popular it was, so we didn’t reserve one. Breakfast was okay, but I’d have liked more variety, such as two kinds of cheese and maybe cream cheese. The scrambled eggs were a disaster, and I don’t understand why hotels can’t make good scrambled eggs. The bacon was cooked too long as well.
