Hotel Ullinge, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

It’s a charming hotel in a beautiful, scenic setting, but the customer service was shockingly poor. Right from our call ahead with questions about the rooms through to asking for help during our stay, the responses felt dismissive and unhelpful. Our son had especially been looking forward to boating. When we asked about it, someone handed us a key and told us to fit the engine and batteries ourselves. There were no instructions or guidance. We went back to explain that we didn’t know how, and the staff member just stared at us without offering any help. We ended up not going out on the boat, and our son was really upset. We never felt welcome or supported. Service in the restaurant was cold too, and at times almost rude. It felt like they didn’t care about us as guests.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. We enjoyed good food and breakfast, too. The hotel looks out over the lake, with stunning views. I rented a boat for a few hours and found it very relaxing. I only wish I’d brought my fishing gear.

The hotel is very well located, and you can borrow a rowing boat for free. Taking it out on the lake at sunset sounds like a lovely idea. Sadly, the outdoor area is neglected and in poor condition. The bathroom is small, and after a shower the water stays pooled in the middle of the room.

The setting is beautiful, and the restaurant food is very good. It’s quite far from houses, so it’s a peaceful place to relax without noise. The rooms could be better: they’re very basic and not really clean. I’d recommend it for a romantic weekend or dinner.
