Hotel Barken Viking

I stayed here four years ago and it was a lot better then. The new owner hasn’t done the hotel any good. Check-in is only by phone, which could be fine, but the person on the other end sounded like he had no will to live, or at least no interest in helping. Our first room had a broken lock. The second had only a single bed. The third was the right one, a fine room except for a broken chair and a loose electrical outlet. The ship where you used to park is gone, and there was no information about where to leave the car. The closest spot I could find was a 500m walk away.

We booked a room for Dec 31st and arrived at 23:00 after a late flight, but it wasn’t ready. It was extremely filthy, and cleaning service wasn’t available then, so we left. Barken had one thing to do and still didn’t do it. We ended up celebrating New Year’s Eve outside with our luggage in hand.

This place was great...10 years ago! There’s no reception or personnel. My room had a broken toilet seat, no closet or anywhere to store my stuff, and lots of dirt and stains. It was also missing towels and a hair dryer. I called the "virtual reception" at 7 p.m. // 19:00, but there was no personnel. The man told me to >Wait until tomorrow, the "lady for breakfast" will give you a hair dryer

The location was truly exceptional, and the breakfast was refined and enjoyable. I stayed for two nights. It was pleasant and comfortable, though the experience didn’t entirely match the price point.
