Clarion Hotel Karlatornet

The rooms are on the small side, but they’re clean, well kept, and have all the essentials. Some rooms have really nice views. There’s a gym and a few restaurants nearby, which is useful. It’s a chic hotel that covers the basics well, though the location is a bit far from the city centre. The nearest bus and tram stop is about a nine-minute walk, so you’ll need some kind of transport.

After staying at Clarion Hotel Karlatornet from December 9-12th in Room 9xx, I found what I believe were bedbugs at home. I had stayed only at Karlatornet during that period and hadn’t spent the night anywhere else, so I can’t see another possible source. I had more than 30 bites across my body, which I believe points to multiple insects and a serious infestation rather than a single bug. The bites caused allergic reactions that needed medical attention. The weeks that followed disrupted my daily life and sleep. I had doctor consultations, paid for professional pest control at home, and faced significant medical and extermination costs. I also experienced emotional distress and damage to my belongings and living space. The hotel initially expressed concern and took the room out of service. Its pest control company allegedly found “no evidence” of bedbugs, but the “official report” I received was an unsigned PDF without verification or a signature, something I could have made myself in minutes. That documentation left me concerned about how seriously this was handled. Despite the bites, allergic reactions, expenses, and weeks of disruption, the hotel offered no compensation at all, not even a refund or goodwill gesture. They dismissed my concerns with an unverified report and moved on. The findings don’t address the effect on my health and wellbeing, and the refusal to compensate me feels insulting given how serious this was. What should have been a comfortable stay became weeks of pest control, medical visits, allergic reactions, and the stress of believing bedbugs had come into my home from the hotel. I can’t recommend it, and I’ll advise my company to reconsider future bookings. The hygiene standards fell far below what I’d expect from a Clarion property, and the response was deeply disappointing. Stay away if you value your peace of mind and home.

The rooms are okay, but they don’t get cleaned the way they do in other hotels. Breakfast was a disaster: so many dishes, but none of them had any taste, and most were inedible. The scrambled eggs were disgusting, the bacon dry as a bone, and the baked beans cold. I’m a good chef and don’t understand why it’s so hard to get this right. Invite me over for a weekend and I’ll show you how to cook it. I also don’t get why you can’t have beer in your room if you bought it at the bar. It feels a bit like kindergarten.

We had Christmas dinner in the basement, so there was no view from there. I went up to around the 17th floor, where the view is great. The parking place is very close.
