Hôtel Eggers

The wine choices were good, and the desserts were just as enjoyable as the dishes. We only came for dinner, not to stay, and the restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. It has a roomy, traditional feel, and the French-style menu is small but thoughtfully put together. Everything we ordered tasted great and looked lovely. Prices run a little high by Swedish standards, though the quality made it feel worth the treat.

The building is lovely and the location is great, but the room was uncomfortably hot. We couldn't open the windows because of the outside noise. The shower was tiny and the basin leaked. There was no phone for room service, no spare toilet roll when ours ran out, and no fresh milk or teaspoons for tea.

We went to the restaurant and to a fantastic concert by "The Hellsongs". The atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed the food and summer cocktails too. 👌

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, though you have to walk around the bar to find it all. Beyond the cereal, bread, and cheese up front, there were juices, eggs, bacon, and omelettes. You can also eat outside the serving area. I loved the historic decor, and the old brass room keys were a nice detail. The hotel is across from the central train station, but make sure to take the right station exit. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, which I learned isn't unusual in Swedish homes. The lobby common areas do have AC. I nearly tripped several times on the roughly 2.5-inch step up into the bathroom. The breakfast itself was great.
