Hotel Vanilla

The room was surprisingly spacious, clean, and had a comfortable bed. Breakfast was simple, but I liked the healthier options, especially the plain yogurt with toppings. It's a solid location, with restaurants, shops, and transit a short walk away. Front desk service was friendly, and the staff quickly switched to English to help me, so I never needed my translation app. I appreciated that. The in-room kettle came in handy, too. Just be aware there isn't an elevator, there are no luggage racks, and the outlets aren't in the most convenient spots for charging devices. For the price, this was very good value, and I'd definitely stay again.

We paid for two separate beds but got a double the first night. They couldn't move us then, but gave us a different room with separate beds on night two. There was no AC, just a heating fan in our room, so it was hot. The staff were decent. The superior, manager, or boss looked too casual for the title. The bathroom had several broken tiles, a broken soap dispenser, and mold under the tiles. The wooden ceiling beam hadn't been dusted in a long time. Breakfast didn't have much choice, though what was there was okay; the eggs needed more cooking. Reception closed at 9pm, and after that there was no access to it. It wasn't worth the price, and I won't return. Not the worst place, just terrible.

I didn't run into the negative problems mentioned in other posts. Noise was my main issue: there was construction in the courtyard inside reception, and rooms facing that way also picked up noise from guests using the side entrance. I moved to a room facing the parking courtyard, which was better. A fan-like machine hummed there, but it worked as white noise. You don't get much for your money, though everything costs a lot in this part of the world. The room was dorm-like, but breakfast was included. There are plenty of rooms to choose from, including larger ones, so if yours doesn't suit you, consider asking to move.

The staff were really friendly, and the location was just right. We had a lovely stay at this hotel.
