Ekängen Gotland

We had lunch indoors, near the serving area, which was handy with our small children. There’s a big outdoor terrace too. The simple dining room serves a dish of the day and soup of the week, along with a basic salad buffet, several breads with butter, tea, coffee, and soft cake. We had meatballs with mash, cream sauce, and lingonberries. It was clearly homemade with love, and very good. The portions were generous, and we were allowed to take the leftovers home. The visit exceeded our expectations. Definitely worth stopping for lunch if you’re passing by.

This place is under completely new management, so don’t mix it up with old reviews from years ago. The food exceeded expectations, made with care for the location and what it can offer. The schnitzel was hand-pounded, super fine and thin, just the right way, with no semi-finished products. They have a permit to serve alcohol and a selection that’s well chosen and better than expected. I’m looking forward to the lunches they’re going to start serving. If you’re nearby and want well-cooked home cooking, I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed. I wish it had been available last fall.

The owner was very nice. The bar is a lovely place to sit in armchairs and chat with other guests in the evening. Breakfast was quite okay and enough for me. I’ll gladly come back.👍👍👍
