Hotel Bishops Arms Lund

The food at the bar/restaurant was good, and the location is extremely good. My room wasn't large, but it was clean and had what I needed. The access and luggage arrangements made for a very strange stay. On Saturday the hotel entrance and lobby were closed, so guests had to check in at the bar counter by the beer taps and drag their bags through the busy bar to the lift. That continued all weekend, though there was also a card entrance to an empty lobby. On Monday morning the lobby was open but the hotel door was locked, with an outside card reader. I needed to store my bags after checkout, but they couldn't guarantee anyone would be at the lobby, and I no longer had a key card. They gave me a phone number on a yellow post-it and said I might not be able to collect my luggage after 16 or possibly 14. I came back in time, found the door locked and nobody in the lobby, then called and waited for someone to let me in and hand over the bags. They'd been left in an unsecured area where any hotel guest could have taken them. The service felt poor.

The kitchen grease smell had soaked into my hair and clothes, and the corridors and my room reeked of it. On top of that, the breakfast was a ripoff, just basic ham and bread with no fruit or vegetables. If you want to sleep, avoid this place. The hotel shares space with a loud pub, and my window opened onto the terrace. Closing it did nothing against the blasting music and screaming crowds, even on a Tuesday. It was incredibly frustrating and not worth the price.

The location is great, but it isn't what I'd expect from a hotel in the heart of town. My room clearly hadn't been cleaned: there was hair all over the shower. The toilet leaked, and some of the sockets didn't work. Disappointing and not worth the money.

A nice spot to meet Swedes, often quiet ones, as they come out of their usual taciturn introspection. It could use some musicians, maybe even a piano player. Andy from England
