Knistad Herrgård

Even though I was here for a work trip, it felt more like a vacation. It was so peaceful just wandering around, and everywhere looked great in photos. The room was super clean, and both the food and service were good.

The staff were very friendly, and although the first room we got was tiny and uncomfortable, they found us another one almost immediately when we asked. They also kindly offered to book us a table at the restaurant. The food was great, but the price felt far too high for two plates and water. The rooms and facilities themselves were okay. My main issue came after checkout. I got an email asking for 200 euros because someone supposedly smoked in the room, though nobody smoked there. It turned out a cleaner, who was very strongly against smoking, thought the smell on my clothes was evidence. The whole thing felt ridiculous, and it put me in an awkward position with my company as an airline pilot. I personally wouldn’t want to stay there again.

The food was great, and I loved the massage and the wine cellar. This farmhouse hotel is near Valle, one of Sweden’s most beautiful places for getting outdoors. The final episode of Allt för Sverige was filmed here.

We came here for the wedding of some Swedish friends, and it was a great day. The grounds are beautiful, the food was excellent, and the service was very good. It’s a hotel, restaurant, and golf club all in one.
